"Sea Caves"

Posted by MJ (Guest) on Apr-03-02 at 11:26 AM
All of my charac are level 10 with enough exp points to level up to 13-14. I have just entered the sea caves from Umpani camp and must find missing umpani sgt. After losing Vi and Urq I immediately encounter several psi sharks, omega sharks and others and before the third round has ended most of my crew are dead. I cast soul shield, magic screen and my bard uses appropriate instruments but none of this seems to make a bit of difference. I have tried many times but the results are always the same.......death, death, and more death.

Could someone offer up a suggestion as to how I can get passed these bloody b*tards? Only thing I can think of is to go out to N Wilderness and explore much more which I have not done yet.

Please Help!

First off level up your troops there is absolutely no way you are going to beat these fisheys with lvl 10 charactors. Your best bet is after casting soul shield and element shield while having mgicscreen at max is to close with them and melee the hell out of them.. Take a walk to the mine tunnels and recruit RFS-81. If you don't want to go via the underwater route there is an above ground route through the Swamp. If you take that route be prepared to run into some very nasty fighter/magic user types in the Rynjin. If you go underwater have fun with Nessie. Good lick

In case you have not figured it out most Fire spells are ineffective underwater. Earth Air Mental and DEvine are you best bets but mostly it's slog and slug with your priest/lord/ bishop casting heal and heal all or your bard strumming the Duclimer of mending every third turn or so.

Just a question, why don't you level up to Lv 13-14? There's no reason not to. If you're concerned about spell picks, those can be saved for any next level-up you do. With Lv 13 or 14, the water caves (which I assume is where you are, the sea caves are further on) should be doable.

And you can knock Vi and Urq unconscious and drag them in. They'll suffer on their stats, but at least Vi should stay a decent fighter (er... Valkyrie).
