"Secret passages in Rapax Castle"

I found a couple of secret passages in the Rapax cellar.
One leads to another part of the cellar. The other leads
to the main castle and what looks like a ladder. Unfortunately
I cannot climb the ladder because the way is blocked.
Do I need an item here or do I clear the way from the main
level?

That ladder leads up to Ferro's shop. Its blocked bedause the elevator to ferro's armory is down.
