I finished Wiz 8 last night! After about 3 months of part-time playing. A bitter-sweet victory though, because I really enjoyed playing it. I played through all 3 options at the end just to make sure I got my money's worth. I never reloaded areas to try and get good weapons etc - just played it once through. Needless to say I had no excalibur/light sword, but still managed to finish the game quite easily. My characters all ended around lev 25. I levelled them up about 3 times in Ascension peak alone! Lots of exp and monsters seem to respawn.
I found that the game became too easy once I got past about lev 15. Combat was a breeze even with no super weapons. Dark Savant even died in 4/5 turns. Hardest fight I guess was Nessie when I was about lev 12.
Tip on trying to lose Vi's mace - why bother? I took her to the end and in the final moments she breaks from the party to do her speach and when DS attacked she engaged in combat with her mace! I was disgusted! I thought she was a clever girl - she had 100 and something skill in polearm and was armed with a nice polearm too. But she insisted to go back to what she knew and tried to smack him with her mace. I guess the program will create her with a mace - even though you've managed to lose it. I noticed that her hitpoints also changed (increased) from when she broke from my party at the end - so guessing that she is re-created totally - with mace.
To all the people on the list - thanks a stack for the advice, help etc that you guys offered to get me through it. I'd still be in the monastery now if it wasn't for this list.
