"Trouble with Elementals"

Posted by Carl (Guest) on Mar-19-02 at 05:47 PM
Weird problem I have when casting Summon Elemental. I get the target scepter (same as, e.g., fireball), but when I click I get a strange ringing sound and I'm unable to target the spell. I thought perhaps that elementals couldn't be cast indoors, but I moved outside and had the same problem. I thought perhaps I was trying to cast at too high a level, but had the same problem when I lowered the level. Has anyone run into this? What am I doing wrong?

When casting Summon Elemental, the power of the spell you select will determine the grade of the elemental, eg lesser, greater, lord etc. The grade will also affect the size of the elemental summoned. Therefore, when casting Summon Elemental, be aware of the space constraints such as roof, room space etc if it is indoors or trees, rocks, cliff walls etc if outdoors. You can try casting Summon Elemental at a lower level to get an elemental of the size that can fit your space constraint

If you are on a ledge, hill, crevasse, ... I find sometimes I am unable to target rod cursor spells. Try casting other rod cursor spells (like fireball) to see if it is the size of the elemental or just the rod placement.

(love that 45 minute commute ...)

It may be you have to select the power level first, then "cast the rod". I think that (since it gauging basing the size of the element versus room available) is the only rod spell like that.

Funny, though, you can always (or I think always) cast a canned elemental, regardless of room )
