You said something about a frontier phaser? Where do I get it? bucaneer ghosts? Where are they? And then where can I get more Powerpacks? And at last: Are there other weapons with powerpack as ammunition?

oh a forgot an item in my last post
the empty bottle! I know I can use it in the swamp to get a cherry bomb but as I found an empty bottle in the Rapax Castle I hoped to fill it with any kind of brew to set Constable Odo asleep but the barrel was only "graphic"... well are there other possibilites to fill the empty bottle?

Gadgeteers can combine gunpowder and empty bottles to make Noisemakers (one time use), but those aren't very good at all.

The buccaneer ghosts are found in the Bayjin Shallows near a sunken ship. Best way to get the Pistol (or the Light Sword) from them is to save just before fighting them, kill one or two, check their drops to see if you get a pistol. If not, reload and restart the fight, if so then run out of combat until it ends, save again and go back into combat. Lather, rinse and repeat until all are dead. If you do this correctly, you can end up with multiple Light Swords or Pistols. They also have a chance to drop Vaporizers.

Powerpaks are found rarely and at random and no one sells them. However, I've had people swear they don't need the powerpaks at all -- their pistols just keep firing. I can't verify this myself.

In Wiz 8, there are no other weapons that would use the powerpaks as ammo but in Wiz 7 the Cobaltine Powerglove used them as well.

Picked up a frontier phaser from the buccaneer ghosts. Originally, the phaser showed six charges left so I equipped my gadgeteer with it. After a long combat series, the number of charges went to zero but the phaser kept firing. Thought it might have been using the powerpaks in my inventory but the number of powerpak charges never decreases . . . and the phaser is still firing after countless additional battles. Now that's what I call low power consumption!

The only problem I've seen with that is that sometimes I don't get as many times firing as I feel I should in a round. I've watched my combat screen and sometimes it will skip right past the person who carries the pistol without letting them fire. I finally ended up taking the pistol away and giving them a bow back because even with 100 in modern weapon they weren't doing as much damage consistently as with a 75 in bow.

I see the same effect with the Mystery Ray imported from Wiz 7. My lord gets off one shot, misses, then the icon just winks later on in the round. At least it never needs recharging ...
