"Is it necessary to keep Vi?"

Is it necessary to keep Vi deep into the game? I already have a Priest & a Lord. Plus she is my week link. Every battle I have to listen to her "I'm getting torn up, guys!". I would love to dump her

Yes, you can get rid of Vi, she's not necessary at all. There are NO necessary characters in this entire game, you can kill them all and still complete it (okay, so that would be hard, but still possible).

Personally, if you get Vi good equipment, she can be a decent party member. But she isn't as useful if you do already have someone using the Priest spellbook.

No, you canget thru the game without ANY rexruited charactors. Nice to have, yes, a little extra firepower, definitely, slows your gaining in levels, yup, but becessary, NOT A CHANCE.

Vi is a great addition to my party. I always travel with her, except to places she won't go. I have built her up and is one of my best warriors. Build up her strength, speed, polearm and sling skills and she won't let you down. She's not with me now, but when I get the chance I'm going to pick her back up. I love to keep her in the rear of my party.

I suppose that a different personality and voice could be selected for Vi, but I don't mind her banter. The one I am slowly tiring of is the personality/voice choice I made for Mage, who gets into a whine about being covered with bruises, and what-not.

you are not able to change Vi's voice or personality, tried that. you can change your PC's voice and personality.

Right click on the character to bring up the review screen. Then click on their name (under their pic). That takes you to the personality screen, where you can change it (which is directly linked to teh voice).
