How can you defeat it. Shrike arrows, vaporizer, instant death spell elemental...nothing works. My whole band of 7 eventually dies. Is there a way to beat it.

To kill Nessie, Your party level needs at least 13 level, and You must cast 7 level Elemental shield spell. Because 7 level Elemental shield spell blocks allmost all Nessie spell attacks.

I had a level 14-15 party. The first round I used superman potions on all melee attackers. My bard used the jericho horn to armormelt. My Mage cast Element shield. My bishop cast guardian Angel on mage. In round 2, I ran up to nessie and fighers and Samauri attacked (about 300 damage total). In round 3 Bard used dulcimer of mending while fighters dished out about 500 more damage. She was dead in round 4 before she could even attack. The key is superman attackers, use armormelt and element shield.

I used canned elementals (about 3) and elemental shield. Worked the first time.

I went in... my gadgy had a heal all gadget (attainable w/o fighting anyone, if you're quick) and my bishop just kept casting rest all or stamina... I cast one summon elemental, just to distract her, and then my supermanned samurai basically cut her to pieces all by himself. With the blood lust. No one else (all supermaned) was able to really touch her.

Key is getting up close for close combat and casting armormelt on her as well as element shield on your party, having heal all helps immensly.

A level 14 party with a ranger w/mystic arrows. Sometimes all you need is luck.

After reading about Nessie I finally encountered her last night. I snuck by and saved game, then hopped back down to see how bad she really is.
Results:

Nessie breathes (15-20 pts damage or so to all)
Bishop summons greater air elemental
Ranger, Samurai, Gadgetier and fighter all fire arrows galore

Round 2

Nessie casts acid bomb
Bishop casts elemental shield
arrows fly as before
Elemental smacks nessie for 144 points of damage
Elemental smacks nessie for 124 points of damage

Round 3
Nessie casts spell at elemental (didn't catch what it was)
Arrows fly again
Now here is where I got confused - nessie should not have had enough hits to kill yet but I didn't catch what exactly killed her. Anyway the Elemental smacked her again and knocked her out.
I THINK my Ranger got an instant kill but was too amazed that the fight was already over to catch the message.

So, with a bit o' luck nessie isn't that bad. I bet if I call up that save and try again she kicks my ass...

After it is all over, you can click on the battle icon (below the lips icon) and review the battle history. If you saved at that point, it should still be there when you reload (nice feature).
