"Underwater Caves - Please Help."

Posted by Mortavius on Mar-13-02 at 01:38 PM
Hello. I absolutely love this game, and I have been playing it very avidly. However, my level 12 party has just entered into the Underwater Caves (following an Umpani aligned path) and I cannot get any farther. To put it simply, the monsters in the cave beat me six ways from Sunday. Vi & Sax left my party when I entered, and I hear that the only party member who will accompany you willingly is RFS-81 (which I find odd, him being an android and all).
How can I become stronger to defeat those critters? I have explored many other places, and I seem to have completed most of the smaller quests.

Thanks, Mark.

If you feel you need to level up, try the retro dungeons for experience or if you know of them, some of the other side quests. Freed tryton from the terror of the rattkins yet? How about finding the diamond for the bank? If you haven't gotten the idol yet, get it to complete Crock's quest. Also, if you want to create the Umpani/T'rang alliance, try to get to Z'ant before to much longer, otherwise, although you may be able to complete any quest that asks for an item (Umpani flag, Rapax assasin head), once he sends you for the Black ship coordinates he will become hostile if you haven't paid off He'li to keep her quiet. I think that if your heading for the sea caves now you may have made the same mistake I did in waiting too long. I don't know your party make up, but if you don't have some canned elementals to keep Nessie off your back and a ranged shooter to get in a lucky shot or two (ranger w/mystic arrows did it for me), you may want to back track anyway. Hope this helps.

What are you referring to exactly?

>Freed tryton from the terror

If you mean the Breeders, then yes.

>the bank?

This I haven't done yet, nor even heard anything about.

Yep, got Marten's Idol and rescued my party member.

Really? This is all new to me. I haven't done anything for the T'Rang. I thought you had to choose a side to work for and stick with it.

Well, I have a Lord (was a Valkyrie till level 10), Ninja, Ranger, Gadgeteer, Bard, and Wizard (was an Alchemist till level 10). I do have some canned elementals. My problem is just the monsters like the manta rays, fish, and such. They kick my butt. My melee combatants cannot hit for some reason (probably because it's underwater) and most of my magic doesn't work.

Try the retro dungeons for experience and any side quests you may have ignored until now.

at that level, to continue to explore. Even if you have done all your quests til now, there are more waiting. Maybe go gather some special items for Antone, or clear out SE Wilderness, Martens bluff, ...

If you have them cast SOUL SHIELD and ELEMENT SHIELD first this will cut the danage some. MAGIC SCREEN at high power gives more protection. Fire spells are totally unaffective under water bit earth and devine work just fine
