"monastery"

I am totally new to RPGs and Wizardry8. Just picked up after a review in CGW. I am in the monestary and I hate to leave before I have done everything:

1. There is a pool of water in front of a statue in the lower monastery. The hand icon comes up but nothing happens. I don't have an empty bottle or anything. It is at the end of a long hall with coffins or something lined up against the wall.

2. In the upper monestary, there is a door with no handle leading to a room with a computer in it. Access denied. Cannot open door.

3. Where do I get the wheel key?

I am assuming that I may have to leave the monastery and come back later. If you can confirm this or help with any of these questions, thanks in advance.

I'll try to answer without too much spoilage:

1: IIRC that pool doesn't fix anything, must be something that didn't get implemented.

2: You will need to look around, you can't open door but there is a way in. You will find the way in the monestarty.

3. Wheel key, you wil find it later in another location.

good luck

I'll clarify Nomad's answers a bit.

1) This pool will heal your party if you touch it while injured. I believe it only works a limited number of times so use it wisely.

2) There is a way in but it's not via a key. You will need to get to the other side of the Upper Monastery and use the key you find in that room before you will be able to get in the room.

3) The hint that the wheel key you need is not in the monastery is rather oblique. Remember the diary found out by Burz? The astrologer mentions he has been told to take the key to someone (or was it someplace? I don't recall for sure). At any rate, you'll need to return to the monastery later with the key to get into that room.

A word of caution: (not spoilerish but I'll still make it easy to avoid. Highlight if you want some advice): "do not level up too high before leaving the Monastery or you will have a very hard time on the road to town. The higher your level, the higher the monsters' level and as many battles as you'll be forced to fight against large groups of creatures, you'll want every edge you can get to survive. I recommend keeping your characters 6th level or under until you get to town."

I have noticed that I am fighting level 10 bandits now. I will have to find a way to deal with them. As for the room entry...I located the key that led me to the courtyard and talked to the cosmic lord. I also have been in the room with the bats, turned up the bells to the max level and shattered the glass in the overhead main room. Access still denied to all computers, but I did find a nice item inside the circle of boxes. Still irked about entry into the computer room. There is that tantalizing note inside.

try the computer room again, computer access still denied.

Not to mention the room with the nice piece of armor behind glass.

I am totally serious here. I take it that I need to go through the broken glass to get into the locked computer room. The glass is not broken. The glass in the main hall where I drop to the center boxes is broken but that is it. I was in the room with some bats, set the dial on one, pushed the button. Then set it on two, pushed the button. Then set it on three and pushed the button and there was a long, loud sound (the glass breaking). If I try to push the button again, nothing happens. I have the 1.2.4 download. Am I hallucinating, or did I screw up some where? Is there another way into the room. I don't know, maybe I need to correct my gamma setting since the glass seems to be there and I can't get in. If this is the right way to do it, I will simply reload an earlier game, go straight to the highest setting for the bells, and check again. Thanks.

yes, level 3 on the bells should break all the glass.

Which room has the control that rings the bell?

Diir to the left in the Ni magic allowed room opens with the crude iron key you find in the loft near the exit from the upper monastery.
