"Killing NPCs in Wizardry 6+7"

Posted by ShadowCrust on Feb-27-02 at 01:24 AM
As my characters in Bane and Crusaders were more of the nice and friendly sort, I have neither killed Bela nor Don Barlone nor Jan-Ette in the adventures of my ready-to-import parties. So it's not very easy for me to test this: What if you killed them? Will Milano Calzone sell the Astral Dominae instead? Will Belur, the secret step-brother of Bela make his appearance to assist us? Or even Rebecca?
Don't answer if you think it's a huge spoiler and I should try it myself. I just want to know - if someone knows - if it's worthwile dragging another party through the earlier Wizardries to see the outcome.

Well, I can tell you that Jan-ette died (not by my hands) during the game in several of the parties I've imported from 7 and I still run into her in 8. Same thing with Rodan. And I did kill Bela in one of the imported games. So apparently the NPC status at the end of Wiz 6 and 7 doesn't matter at all.

If you kill the Don, he'll drop the AD.

Status at the end of 6 or 7 doesn't matter. The Don if you killed him in 6 will mention it in 6 but he doesn't bear a grudge.

Since the import to Wiz 7 did not take into account the party's actions (and which NPCs were offed or not). Their is not Wiz 6-> Wiz 8 import, so no bearing on Wiz 8.

As for Wiz 7 -> Wiz 8 ... you have the powers of ressurection ... so did some of the NPCs on Lost Guardia THe only thing I have seen make a difference is that some of the NPCs will say things like "I remember you" or they may start out neutral instead of friendly.

Are you sure about the Wiz6->Wiz7 import, that the actions done in the first aren't noted in the latter? Have you deciphered every byte of the savegame? I always thought with the different endings in Wizardry 6 and thus different beginnings in Wizardry 7 your killings would be taken into account, too. Also the "hidden" Bela in Wizardry 7 pointed into this direction.
Thanks for the answers to all, I now may delay my next Wizardry 6 adventure some more years, until I've finally played Wizardry 4 and 5

But who in Wiz 6 is in Wiz 7? Aside from Bela, who has his own agenda, I think no matter what you did in any previous Wiz, what Wiz 6 interaction could carry over to wiz 8 (if they did bring it through Wiz 7).
