The Prisoner's Chain can be found in one of the Rapax prisons (either Rafe's cage or in one of the rune-adorned ones). I'm not sure about the Obsidian, maybe in Mt Gigas or the Mine Tunnels.

Prisoner' chain you pickpocket or get from Rafe in the rift.
Obsiden you find in the roft. It is something you find near volcanos. If you have rescued Rafe check your inventory for chain . If you gave rafe the Staff od ash you should have it.

Hmmm...I gave him the Staff and I don't have the Prisoner's Chain. Not only did I check our combined inventory but I went through each character's personal stash too.

Which leads me to the next question -- since I'm already in the Castle (I just walked through the door), should I go back and get it or just forget it now? Going back across the rift entails fighting a LOT more Rapax.

Just check to see if you have a chain in your invertory. If so give it to Ferro. It is sort of like the WIDE CLEAVER BLADE to have to give to Antone in Arnika to make the Beastslayer axe. The WCB is just a cleaner and the chain is the Prisoner's Chain. (You got it from a Prisoner (Rafe) after all

Nope -- no chain in my inventory (well, not THAT chain, anyway).

Once you become a Templar you need not worry about being attacked by Rapax untill later in the game. Check Rafe's cell it might be in there.

Hmmm...good point. I'll continue with the Castle, become a Templar and THEN go back and get the chain -- brilliant!

Chain: In the back of Rafe's cell. You may have to complete his quest first.
Obsidian: Turn right at the entrance, go along to the end, turn left before you go up the slope. It should be on the ground in front of you.

Back of Rafe's cell will be a bullwhip. That's actually the chain.
