"switching proffessions"

my mage and priest are at a point in the game where they pretty much know all the spells in their proffession. is there any negative effects to changing proffessions at this late point in the game? will they lose magic points?lose attributes?

Well, it depends on where in the game you are. In my experience, when I had a pure spellcaster "maxxed out", I was on Ascension Peak (or at least the Rapax Castle) anyway, so switching, while it wouldn't hurt, probably wouldn't be very useful, either.

that's true, i am at the rapax castle but maybe changing to a bishop to get a few spells or something to that nature might be beneficial, i'm basically worried about losing what i already have-hit points, spell points ,certain attributes.

Try converting both to Bishops and see what happens. You can always restore an earlier save if it doesn't work out.

Your priest will be fine, your mage will, too, but you might want to change his equipment; Bishops can wear light armor (as opposed to mages who can only wear minimal), but no daggers.

In regards to abilities you will lose the Pray for Miracle ability and the Mage's extra spell resistance, and your bonus to divinity and wizardry skills will be gone.
