"Stuck in sea caves: please help!"

Ok, so I did this back-asswards, but I've got a party of all 25+ level chars., have been to Ascension Peak, have placed the AD, the CM, etc---but I realized once there that I never bothered to find Marten and get the DD (I guess I got distracted somewhere along the way...) Anyway, I'm back in the sea caves and trying to find the SOB, but I can't get up to the upper anywhere. I think I'm supposed to use the hook and line to climb "the stick" thingy, but everytime I try to use it there I get the dreaded "on second thought..." message. Am I doing something wrong? Is there an exact spot in which I need to be standing? Do I need something else? It's frustrating as hell to be this close and not be able to finish...! Thanks....

I will be specific as you clearly just want to finish now. It contains spoilers, if that worries you/anyone do not read

You will find a large cavern that if you look up has a hole in the roof, use the rope/hook there.

You will need the Serenity Helm from the Shaman in Trynton. This helmut stops the entire party going insane when the character equiped with the Serenity Helmut takes possesion of the Destiny Dominus (that is specific because it is a must, the Serenity Helmut won't work otherwise).

You will need a plank from the wrecked boat on the beach at the entrance to one of the sea caves. This plank will be required to form a platform at the bottom of a slippery slope.

You will need to search skeletons to find a pair of spiked boots (for the slippery slope) and also to find a key to Martyn's Crypt Door (I think thats where you find the key anyway).

When you reach the hole in the roof and look up, you'll see a piece of wood on one side of it. That's where you have to apply the hook. Or else, try "feeling" with the cursor without the hook in hand, and when your cursor transforms into a hand, remember the spot and use the hook on it.

Hope this helps
