"party of 3"

I just sailed through the game with a party of 3 on normal difficulty with no rpcs. I used a bishop, fighter, and bard and the highest level they finished at was 25. My thoughts were that these were kind of the only characters that you needed. Every other class seems to be uneccessary in order to beat the game. I tried going solo but I found I had to keep reloading after losing so many battles that it was taking me just as long to level up as with a party of six. The fighter does the most damage (using the bloodlust sword), the bishop learns all the spells, and the bard is mainly just for "heal all" while your bishop alternates between resting the bard and casting group spells. The only drawback I saw was a ranger would have been nice for searching while running and the gagdeteer would have been nice for making the triple shot crossbow. Any opinions on this?

Recruit NPC's Madras and Sparkle. They won't come to certain places bot the places they do go they can be most useful. Madras can make triple shot cross bows and Sparkle armed with an Eagle Eye Bow and armor piercer arrows is leathal at distance Their spells and gadgets are nothing to sneeze at either.
