I offed Nessie, rummaged thru the chest in DJL but no Exalibur:/
Where'd I go wrong?

The chests are randomly set when you enter an area. You can only restart a saved game from outside the area and re-enter. Note that if Nessie can't see you for 3 rounds in a row, she retreats and you drop out of combat mode. This is probably the best way to do this, but I wouldn't hold out much hope. People on here have tried re-doing the area up to 50 times and still haven't gotten it. I, however, didn't bother but got it in a chest later on.

Yesterday, I elaborated my Nessie-dodging technique and achieved 100% success of avoiding her. The 8th attempt yielded Excalibur. For the details, see my post "Treasure puzzles..." and the people's comments on it.
