"RFS-81 Doesn't Drown!"

I realized I had never gone to the Sea Caves but for some reason I had sold my scuba gear. Without the scuba, I don't know of any way of getting to the Caves. After hours of frustrating travel across various areas, it became clear that none of the merchants had the scuba gear for sale anymore.

Finally I gave up and, out of desperation, leapt into the water leading to the Baijin Shallows, thinking that maybe I could just keep one character alive with Heavy Heal Potions until they reached the Sea Caves. Everyone quickly died - except RFS-81! He then bravely carried the corpses of his companions through the Shallows, fending off Dwellers with liberal applications of Death Bombs until we got to the Sea Caves and everyone could get resurrected.

It's sad how happy this whole thing made me....

God I love this game.

I also found it amusing that RFS-81 can be healed by the same method to heal other members(ie living creatures). I was actually surprised that I could use a normal heal wounds on a robot. I am sure it would have made it much more difficult but I was thinking that you needed to have to use the NAS-81 to heal him or do some mechanical fixing like with the robot in Jagged Alliance 2.

This is slightly off topic but I am very glad this game decided to do away with the swimming ability from wiz 7. That was the most annoying thing about that game.

Too bad a gadgy can't heal or improve the rfs-81. It would be really cool, if the gadgy could add weapons to him... or the x-ray scanner... so he always knew what was going on.

I also think that it's amusing that when the rfs-81 gets silenced he says "Speech system not functioning"... how can he say that... if his speech system isn't functioning? how come he doesn't just buzz or something... oh well...

He can have a special backup speach system, just to report malfunctioning of the main one.

There are two places where you can find scuba gear: Mt Gigas Upper caves and one of the Bayjin huts. Of course, if you sold both sets... tough luck!

Interesting info, though.
