In Bayjin and the Shallows, I have come across 3 chests.

One on the Bayjin Beach, One in a hut on the beach, and one in an underwater alcove near Nessie (who was weak as by the way). This chest was humerously called "Davy Jones Locker".

I got nothing but junk out of all of them. Are these the chests where the light sword and excalibur have been found by others ? If so I might back up and go through again.

Yes, Excaliber can be in Davy Jones Locker, and Light Sword can be found in one of the Bayjin chests or dropped by the Buccaneer ghosts in the Shallows.

If you want to back up, you'll have to backup to a savegame before you have ever entered the appropriate map. W8 generates treasure chest contents when you enter the map for the first time. Secondly, be prepared for a lot of reloads, if I can believe some posts around here... (I never bothered, too much like work)
