Yes, there is an NPC named Madras that you can pick up in Trynton after completing the task the Trynnie have for you there. He comes in as Lvl 6 which means he can already create a doubleshot X-bow and by the time he starts getting whiny about places he won't go - assuming you don't try to tackle places that are a bit tough for your levels, that is -- you should find he has a high enough Engineering skill to get you that tripleshot X-bow. He needs a 70 Eng to do that, a 30 to create the doubleshot.Just remember that once you get him you need to have him use a gadget at least once or twice every combat before you revert to using his Omnigun or his skill won't rise except when he goes up a level.
