Well, I can't begin to tell you all how frustrated I am with trying to procure a *Light* sword for my fighter. I'm not exactly sure how many times I've re-loaded my game right before the buckaneer ghost fight, but I have never been able to obtain the coveted blade. Argh!! I was wondering if anyone knew if your characters had to be of a certain level in order for them to drop it or if a the latest patch prevents it from being included in the ghosts' inventory? Most of my characters are in the vicinity of 15-16 so I was hoping that they would be elegible for it. Thanks for your time.

I tried a *lot*, but never got it from the buccaneers. The most interesting thing I got from them was a frontiersman's phaser (besides the ubiquitous VapoRizers), but that's all. Even the Bayjin chest is not that easy to acquire *L**S*; it took me *62* attempts last time!!!

You guys actually got something from those ghosts? All I got was Gold... nothing dropped... not even a potion.

I got my *L**S* after numerous reloads just before entering Bayjin.

The buccaneer ghosts can drop two things, and the first is always (according to my experience) VapoRizer. The second one varies, and once I even got Phr.Phaser. However, some people claim obtaining a *L**S*. But I was not that lucky.

hihi, after much reloads i onli got the excalibur from the chest behind nessie, no light sword, so i went on to save at the bucaneer ghosts to get the light sword. again after like 50 reloads, i aint getting any light swords, but i did get like 3-4 light shields, so i tot maybe they would drop the light sword too
am i missing out here or has anyone gotten the light sword from the ghosts?

I got the *light**sword* after the first fight with the Buccaneers.

I got four from them but that was through numerous reloads. I'd kill a couple, check what they dropped, run out of combat and save if it was a light sword, reenter combat, kill another one or two, lather, rinse, repeat. Of course, if they didn't drop a light sword then I just reloaded and killed them again. It took me about 3 or 4 hours to get the 4 swords. Not that I necessarily wanted that many but I wanted to see how many I could get. I finally got tired and stopped after 4.

Now that we are on a topic of getting a powerful sword, what is the most powerful secondary sword for a Samurai? I did not seem to be able to get anything better than an Enchanted Wakazashi.

that's about it... just hope for instakills... the 10 pts of damage isn't really worth it... maybe there's another secondary weapon he could use...

There's always the option of having your Samurai use either a shield (to make up for his armor deficiency a bit), or a 2handed sword, for big dmg. Something like the Excalibur =)

Samurai can't use excalibur ;o( but the *Light* *Shield* would be good.

... if they happen to be the right race (as my two are).

Wow... hadn't thought of that. It would make for a great extended weapon. LS for up close, and the Giant Sword for when they're a little further away. Though, the Zatoichi Bo is quite nice... and since I can no longer put points into anything meaningful at the moment, I might as well put them into staffs...

OK, so if I fight the Buccaneers and don't get a light sword dropped, how far back do I have to go in a saved game to try again? Before even dropping down to Nessie's lair? After I go up into the bucaneer area? Before I even enter the Shallows? Inquiring minds want to know.

just before the battle is good.
try blinding the buccanneers so the will run away. by splitting the group you can kill the others an ran the other way so the battle will stop and quick save then. this makes it easier because the battle will go faster and if they don't drop then you can reload.

If you have a bard with a Cornu of Demonspawn imported from W7, this battle is over very, very quickly...

If not, Banish at high level works wonders.

I Don't know if this is any help to anyone trying to obtain a *Light* *Sword* but; I found mine not from any ghost but just from a chest in bayjin. I did not reload any number of times, though i had been through once before and not gotten it.....THE MAIN THING I DID DIFFERENT WAS TO KILL MARTEN'S GHOST!!!!! I haven't tested this out of course (killing him doesn't affect the later game) if you are haveing difficulty you might want to test it out......hope it works... BEST SWORD IN GAME ..I think?good luck
