"Glumph"
Posted by Mergil (Guest) on Feb-05-02 at 05:49 AM
I think I'm getting ahead of myself here - I haven't met the general yet to get the rescue Glumph quest, yet I have rescued him already. Problem is: How do I get him to the general - the last time I was at Mt Gigas I couldn't get into the general's office (needed a higher lev keycard, I think I only have 3 at this stage). And I certainly don't want him tagging everywhere with me - he moans to much.Mergil

>Mergil This is pretty much exactly what I've done as well. Rescued Glumph, no problem getting him to the general because I went back to the sergeant who gave me the mission to get a T'Rang item, and he gave me a lev 5 pass.
But all a waste of effort as when I got to the general, I got zillions of experience and an interesting mission, then all the Umpani attacked and killed me for no apparent reason.
From elsewhere on these boards I see that was because of a traitor.
How was I supposed to know that, from information in the game?
I only found Glumph due to wandering around trying to fulfill the mission I had been given - are we supposed to ONLY do what we have been told to do, and go ONLY to the correct location using information from spoilers boards??
I am wondering if I should now reload from a point back before I goofed off (exploring? in a Wizardry? shocking thing to do!) or hunt for more spoilers to get me out of this situation!
Grrr!

If you join BOTH sides or just the T'ramg stop in at He'Lis and pay her off, otherwise she will rat you out to the opposite side.

I tried He'Lis - she has nothing to say about it, also tried unmasking the traitor before going to see the general. Also no change.
Only other thing to try before abandoning several days lucrative gaming (got the Dulcimer of Mending, 4 portals) is to drop everything before going into the Umpani base camp, in case it is something I'm carrying. (Duh! In which case why did no Umpani say anything until after the general had given me a mission?)
Thanks,

I know this is going to sound lik a dumb question but...
Did you have Glumph with you when you went to and offered to join the T'rang. If so that could be the problem. He would have informed the geberal of your double agent status. Cheer up the alliance is still possible. Rescue the prtsoners and talk to Z'ant first you should still be able to pull it off provided you did not complete rhe T'rang last quest.

>Did you have Glumph with you when you went to and offered to join the T'rang. No - I haven't had any dealings with the T'rang at all.
Actually, I managed to run away from that combat and portal out to Arnika, so I could check my journal. It shows the Umpani as friendly. I went back and they still attacked, so even if I went off and found the T'rang item they wanted I don't see how I could give it to them. (Is there any other way of recovering that situation?)
So I guess it's a bug.
I have another reason to backtrack anyway - been developing my bard in INT which I now see was a mistake, as she got (and can't use) powercast. I should have done STR DEX for her bow skills.
Thanks anyway
