"Scabban . . . to kill, or not to kill?"

Is it a necessity to kill Scabban? The mage guild quest merely says to find him and report back. So, my mage found Scabban, and reported back and completed the quest (by receiving exp and thanks from the mage guild guy).

However, all I read about in this forum is that you all butchered the fellow. Granted, he is crazy, going on and on about his undead legions following him in his effort to conquer the world and all.

Anyway, just curious. Anyone else not kill him?

Since I am role playing, and I see my band of characters as 'do-gooders', I was feeling pity on Scabben and was going to let him live, since he seemed sincere and was trying to find a cure.

Though, since he seemed to also be the cause and he just went off the 'deep end' (at the end of his dialogue), we had a change of heart and did him him.

I doubt whether killing him or not has any bearing on further game play (except of course if someone else in your party gets that quest again ... then it would be nice to have him around).

I have not killed him yet. However, I have heard that killing him is part of a later quest.

I am trying hard to get to that quest!!
