"Done with the game"

Well I finally waded through the last area of the game. I did not find Cet's Tomb to be that difficult. Game difficulty was set on normal and monster spawn rate on frequent.

My PC's were level 20 and 21.

Spell books: Stone, Sun, Vine & Spirit. I was lacking about three spells from each realm at the end of the game.

I joined the Guilds but did not persue advancement in them and I finished only a couple of quest in the begining of the game.

I found the game to be very linear and I don't have that much enthusiasm to play it agian. (uninstalled it) There is something missing in this game (or somethings) that I feel are very important. It is the "Living - Breathing" aspect that is lacking. In W7, though the cities were ghost towns, all one had to do was "lore" with a NPC or cast Locate Person and you would get a sense that there are things going on in different areas of the playing world that you (your party) are not directly involved with. Something that simple made the game (W7) alive for me. I found W&W to be a bit sterile in this regard.

So.... it back to my favorite game. I have a party of 6 waiting just outside the IoC to fininsh and a single PC game about a third of the way through.

"Indeed"

I must say that there were a few good points to the W&W game. The dungeon graphics were nice (software mode) and I liked most of the monsters and NPCs. (absolutely hated the constant bob and weave animation though) The battles with the Champions and the final battle with Cet left something to be desired. I was loaded for bear: Potions, scrolls and mana to the gills only to find out that there are only a couple of things you need.

There is a very nice storybook narration at the end and a pretty cool (very short) animated movie that caught me off gaurd. Nice ending.

Yeah.....I ready for the real deal.

I don't know, I very quickly gave up on the game after starting it, but then when I got sick earlier this week and was stuck inside with nothing to do, I fired it up again and was surprised at how absorbed I became in it. The interface remains a constant chore, but like you mention a lot of the NPCs have that old Bradley charm, and the dungeons all have a flavor to them that is somewhat Bradley-esque.

A pale shadow of the wizardry games, no doubt, but even such a pale shadow glows brighter than most current gaming fare.

"I still love it too"

Well, having just finished the Stout Mines and heading to do that Boogre thing. I still love the game, but I made no pretenses about it being another Wizardry. I would like to see alot of the graphics and stuff be very similar to this in Wizardry 8.

I don't know, I am easily amused, I guess. I love all my games. Next on the list is "the Sims".
