"Grimoire - Wizardry style game - may be nearing completion!"

I am so excited about seeing this game finished I cannot even tell you. They claim there will be import capability for W7 CDS and maybe BCF as well as other games, very thrilling feature.Looking at the new screenshots you cannot help but feel this is the Wizardry 8 that sir-tech should have released 5 years ago. It not only looks very crusaderish but also old school classic style in both the graphics and the game play.

I wasn't going to waste my time even checking the link, but boy, am I glad I did. How many times have I heard "we fired our old artist and the new one is just perfect" over the course of the last few years of Grimoire floating in and out of beta :?And the first thing you see ...? And add looking for artists for two games using their new "Adventure Game Lab". Two new games :?
Did I miss the release of Grimoire :? (well, when I say miss ...
) Oh, no, there it is ... beta 3/1/2001. Oh, and they mean it this time.
Oh, it is all too rich!

---"I'm cooking with gas. It must be that new Columbian Black Panther Coffee I've been drinking. I've toasted more bugs in the past 48 hours than the previous year working on Grimoire. I think I got my mojo back, Dr. Evil! Yeah, baby! You sexy #####!"---Is this the author of the game saying this?!?
Yeah, like I would really want to buy a game from this guy.....

This game is nearly finished for veeeeeery loooooooong time. There was even beta version in 1998 and it was said that the game itself would be released before the end of 1998...So I would not be overenthusiastic.

I am on the beta testing team! I have gotten an email from cleve saying the pre-beta will be ready shortly for review. Only myself and two other people not part of original beta test have been sent emails.I think the game may actually be nearing the end this time. I predict this game will be great, you heard it here first folks. Cleve IS a bit crazy and that is a good quality for a creative game designer. I doubt if sirtech have anyone quite like that guy working for them.

With his usual "this is MY universe and don't quote me" attitude, he announced (on Jan 1) that the BETA would start March 1. Here it is past the Ides of March and we hear that the Pre-beta will be ready "any day now."La-la-la I can't hear you....

(WARNING - Rhetorical question)
So are you beta testing as "Walt" or as "Cleve"? For those that don't know .... "Walt Lewis" is Cleve (and I imagine he is also the other two beta testers as well).

hey rick,
I am thinking we are going to need a discussion board dedicated to Grimore. What do you think? I mean this game is going to be the bomb and all. It is going to go platnium for sure. Walt/Cleve said so. Jay

Hello
I have been following Grimoire for some time seeing that nothing much happens. Perhaps it is different this time, but I must say that I remain pesimistic till the game is really released (it this ever happen).I have seen the DOS demo from 1998 and it looked good (I have not played it yet, but I plan to do it in future). So it seems that at least something really exists.
I am afraid of one thing - the longer time the game takes, the more probably it will never see the light of the day. It gets less appealing to current gamers, developers wants to move on something else etc. And it can end up in never finished game ending on some backup CD in a dusty company archive.
Perhaps this will not happen with Grimoire, but if it is a real danger then you could perhaps think about releasing the sources to public and I am sure that it would be possible to finish it somehow as an open source project (just look on magnificent work Exult team did rewriting Ultima 7 in Windows).
Nobody wants you to prevent from earning some money on shareware (as I remember this is how Grimoire should be release), I just do not want that the unfinished game ended on some backup CD without anybody having anything (neither developers money, nor players game).
Perhaps you could give a thought to this.
