"what weapon skills to pick?"

I came up with that in the end I would finish up with samurai, ninja(assassin), monk(Zen Master) and paladin(valkyrie). The other two will end up warlocks(I think, anyone who think this is not a good idea)

I would like to be able to wield different weapons, but I want the weapons to be "in charcter" .

It would be nice if someone could use a different weapon than a sword, but I find it hard to justify for the characters. Also is this a possibility? In most of the RPG's I have played the sword would always be the most superior weapon. Is it possible to get a good magic axe, a staff, a mace or something else.

What I would like to see is something like this:

Valkyrie: sword, maybe axe.

Samurai: katanas, what else

Ninja: Swords, maybe daggers (is it possible to just fight with daggers?, how do you aquire the two weapon figthing style)

Monk: Staff (again is this possible?)dont really like hands&feet.

btw. Does this athletics skill do anything? and are missile weapons any good?

Can someone help me make up my mind!!!! Please!

Since you can enchant weapons, why not pick the ones you want and add the blessings/enchantments you want?

This is something that really appealed to me, that I plan to explore when I start playing again.

But, as you point out, in this game as well, swords are predominant (not surprising with it's 2nd working title: Swords & Sorcery).

You might want to develop the pole arms skill for one of your fighters. The toad shaman rewards you with a fairly decent magic spear fairly early into the game. I went with the axe skill for my barbarian and sword for my warrior who will soon be samuri. Also, there is a pretty good mace that you get in the crypt, as I recall. I haven't put any points into athletics, but I believe it only helps running, jumping, swimming, & falling.

PS Try putting a few points into the shield skill. I've only got 2 or 3 into it, but it's surprising how often my fighters can block with their shields. Also, you get a great shield in the crypt.
