Ok its not party-based (mostly)* and not turn-based but Ive been hooked on playing the game Fate. Its a cheap $20, not very big, and downloadable from www.playfate.com
Plays smoothly on older machines and is really very easy to play and enjoy.
You can find me on the Fate Forums (link on the above site) as myrddinb.
*You create a "pet" (cat or dog) that helps you fight, carry stuff, and you can equip them with jewelry. You can also feed them magical fish that transforms them into stronger creatures.
LAST EDITED ON Aug-01-06 AT 03:45 PM (Pacific)There really isnt much of a story line, so if you are really into that you might be a bit disappointed - but that makes the game a little more universally easy to play.
You basically create a character and pet (theres actually very few options as character development is all up to you and based on where you put your skill points into).
You are then given 1 main quest which is to kill a specific creature on a specific level of the dungeon. You start out in Grove, the town. Theres a dungeon entrance, some shops, a few other npc's that give you other quests for levels deeper in the dungeon then where you have been - and thats pretty much it.
Once you complete the main quest, however, you can keep exploring deeper levels of the dungeon - all levels are randomly generated and go up to 2^31-1.
When you complete main quest you can also "retire" - and pass on an "heirloom" and then create a "descendant" who inherits your "heirloom" - which is pretty cool.
Always remember the Tleilaxu Epigram:
Here lies a toppled god
his fall was not a small one
we did but build his pedestal
a narrow and a tall one.
