"Draken: the order of the Flame"

Okay, I realize that I am in for a world of pain from you all. But, besides some of the graphic flaws (and there are many), I like the game.Well, it is probably my pagan side coming out.. A gal that fights and rides a Dragon. That is cool.
I haven't been able to get it to work since I dowloaded all the *supposed* fixes and patches from the Microsoft Update site. I was about to finish the 4th level and now I will have to start all over again.
I loved the demo that I got and finished the demo and had to have the game. Tell what you all think...

"Drakken - preparing for rotten fruit?"

Oh, that was *ducking*
I thought the concept was kinda cool too, the girl and her pet dragon. It seemed a bit "Tomb Raider-ish" to me (just from the screen shots and ads I saw), though less "busty" than T
mb Raider. So, where can I get the demo? Is it downloadable or did it come with another game? And what are the graphic flaws - do they cause crashes or is it just stuff getting overlaid?

You can get the demo at www.draken-game.com , I think. I got it as a package of demos from a magazine. The actual game and not the demo has a lot of stuff just getting overlaid. But once you get used to it, you can have a blast. It is not an easy game and it definately has puzzles to solve and I think that is why i like it. So much like Wizardry...
Gee, I really thought that you guys were going to just roll me over the hot coals on this game. So far, this is the only game besides Myst and Riven that I will actually put into my computer.

And get the demo, give it a whirl. If it's no good, tomatoes ahoy
Riven.... That reminds me, I gotta finish that one. I got it last year for XMAS, but got side-tracked on Wiz7Item (which I also need to finish). I loved Myst, such a novel game (to me) - and the puzzles. For sheer puzzle content, I thought that game and 7th guest were just great. Though, by the time I got to play 7th guest, it was a bit of a let down. I had solved most of the puzzles already for my co-workers, who were playing the game

I agree that the Myst puzzles were fairly innovative, but the static world just killed the game for me. That probably has something to do with me not really enjoying puzzles, though... those "bean" puzzles and the funhouse levers are my least favorite parts of W7.A video game without some mayhem and killing? Sorry -- not my cup a' tea.

For giving the wrong URL (and name) - it's www.drakan-game.com

Got the demo version. I really like it and think it is a great concept.......but I have not been able pick up the required control techniques. The fly AND fight another dragon at the same time has got me.
On the other hand I almost always have troubles working a real time system. Thats why I like the Wizardry series so much.

I forgot all about sending out subscriptions tonight (and taking back a couple rented movies
) - playing the demo. It is kinda cool, though the graphics do overlay sometimes. I did manage to crash the game once - rolled a boulder into the river. I had done this before, this one it seemed not to like. And a few glitches in the control - I jumped into the middle of two boxes ... and died
As to fighting the other dragons, I know what you mean. My best strategy so far is to get off and let the dragons fight it out (he'll even take out some of the flaming crossbows). If I could just get him to attack when I want ....
Pretty cool game though - no rotten fruit for the Lady

LAST EDITED ON Feb-11-00 AT 08:32 PM (Pacific)I am so sorry that I haven't been around in awhile, but the hubby has been ill and I have been working like a dog.
Well, I am glad that I got you all addicted to this mindless game. Actually, once you get the hang of flying, then killing the other dragons is easy.
I find the best strategy, is to hide and shoot.

The one thing that I didn't like (and this goes for many a game these days, was the groundhog day effect. I did encounter a few bugs to, like doing a tuck-n-roll a few times threw me through the floor, rather than rolling me forward, into a crouch
I just thought the game *required* a joystick - that trying to fly, dodge and shoot was too difficult (for anything other than an octopus). So, how do you play, Lady? Mouse or joystick? And what is this "hide" ... do you mean sneak up on them? That is basically what I did, since (groundhog day effect) you always know where the next one will appear.

I play with keyboard and mouse. Mostly keyboard, although it has been awhile since I have played only because of the stupid patches that I got from the Micro$oft Update site.I have the coming week off, maybe I will wipe the drive and reload all my games {again}.

Sneak up behind them and WHAM if I can. The flying dragons are a major pain and in the full version, they are even worse.Sorry that I haven't been to the board in a while. I do love it better than VN, and I think that most of us do.
My actual life doesn't always allow me to get on the computer and commune with all my buds, but with hubby in the hospital, I can get away with it tonight.

you should hospitalize him more often
(just kidding) - hope he's OK.Me, I'm wondering what I am gonna do with all the extra time I have tomorrow - no school 'ause of the holiday - woohoo, no speech class

Hubby had to have EMERGENCY surgery and have ye olde Gall Bladder removed. He was trying to give birth to a 2 inch gall stone...I am pulling a all-nighter. Cannot sleep without him being here, even though he can be a pain about my computer time. It is a nice place to go and not think about anything.

Whooo-hooo...I just rewiped my hard drive over the last two days and had to reload everything.
So I guess, we are going ot be on the same page. By the way, you don't get the dragon until after you find him and wake him up. LOL

So, the demo and the game have different starting points? Had you finished the game yet? Tools for your Wizardry(r) toolkit

I just reloaded the game back onto the hard drive after wiping my HD clean. (again)I spent three hours getting my dragon. I hadn't played it in such a long time, that I had forgotten where things were at.
There is a walkthrough at the Spoiler Centre:
http://www.the-spoiler.com
I noticed that I have missed a few secret places. But when I first played the game, I do it without the walkthrough. Next time...I will follow the walkthrough.
But in answer to your question...yes, the demo starts in a different place than the full version. It gives you the taste of both Rynn and Arok (the demo).
I do love the puzzles, though. Especially...(I will wait until you get it), then we can compare notes. LOL
