I did hear that they were indeed using the LithTech 2 engine, which should be a step (giant's step) up from that old engine they were using.

Ý bought that game.Yes graphics are upgraded but i think m&m 8 was more enjoyable.I don't understand why but they decrease the game.I mean there are less skills, less characters to choose, wearing hero screen and maps are horrible. You can't mark the map so to find someone on the map is to horrible and boring. But i can't play too much yet, i hope it is enjoyable as the m&m 8

It's like this: each M&M since about number III has had to shrink still smaller and leave out still more of what gave the M&M games their special savor (particularly the uproarious sense of humor), just to finally get out the door. The last "big" M&M was VI, and it was such a change from what went before that the oldtimers of M&M players never did accept it.

New World Computing has been concentrating on their Heroes of M&M strategy games, set in the M&M environment, and selling a lot more product of that type. M&M IX is the smallest, least funny, least MM-like, of the last four NWC CRPG's. And it has both a number of bugs and some poor design choices in the interface that make it difficult to do some things.

The patch doesn't cure everything, but does fix some game-stopper problems. Is it worth $40? Yes, probably. But not to the same extent that made Wiz8 be worth $50. Also like Wiz, this M&M is most likely the last in the line.
