"Wizards and Warriors Pre-order"

Posted by elrond on Sep-25-00 at 03:56 PM
So....who has it pre-ordered, which version, what price, and from where? I normally pick games up locally, but I think I'd like to get the collector's edition (only $5 more at Amazon) and was wondering where was the best place to get it. I'm kinda ticked at Amazon for there whole price experimentation scheme, so I'd rather order it from somewhere else. Any suggestions?

i placed an order with http://www.ebworld.com . my first "pre-order". while it is listed with the same price as amazon.com ($49.99 for the CE), ebworld.com says that its release date is today (9/26/00). that is one whole day before amazon.com's release date (9/27/00). although, somehow, i doubt i will be recieving it in the mail today...

Yah. Stopped by Sofware Etc. last night and they said they were to recieve W&W on the 27th. I guess that "release" means from the publisher.....in this case and not on the shelf.

On 9/14, I pre-ordered Wizards and Warriors from your link to Chips and Bits.

So why is it, 3 days after the game is reportedly out for sale (in consumer stores), it's still in pre-order status on their website and when my order is further reviewed, it hasn't even been shipped?

As of this moment, I'm going to call up my local software store and most likely purchase it there while at the same time, send an e-mail to Chips and Bits to cancel my order and refund my purchase.

You don't mess with an angry gamer! Heh heh.

Thanks for pre-ordering and I am sorry that it is taking longer (and they bumped their price - though I don't know that affects you or not - I never did get an answer as to how they handle that).

Chips & Bits often has the best price (especially on Shipping & Handling), but is probably never the first to receive their shipments.

I just called them and they said that if you ordered on 9/14 of this year, you probably won't get it for another 2-3 weeks. They fill pre-orders on a first come/first served basis and have pre-orders over a year old. And, per the guy I talked to, they have more pre-orders than they got in, so ...

Also, in regards to the price bump, any that pre-ordered at 39.99 will receive it at that price. If you waited, like I did then you would now get charged the higher price

Man, that ticks me off! I just talked to the affiliate rep a few days ago and he said the price (then $39.95, now $42.95) was good. Well, that is not the first time he has lead me astray

There have been a few posts on HP's board today about it ... mostly those that had it arrive while they were at work and agoinizing the wait until they got home. One persona said they spent five hours rolling characters

Hopefully, mine will be coming in tomorrow (9/28). Five hours rolling characters eh?

Well, it's time well spent in my opinion (at least, the first time <grins>)
